Oranges & Lemons Pre-School.
Situated in Edenvale in the Avenues close to both Primary & High Schools we offer half and full day services for children from 6 months to Grade R. Our qualified, caring staff will ensure that children are treated with the utmost care and respect.

The curriculum is government approved and aligned and through careful preparation the development of children is built upon at each stage. The development of fine motor skills, social and life skills, literacy, numeracy, music, STEM and creativity is encouraged through the use of  carefully prepared lesson plans based on the themes for each week.

BABY BEETLES

Our baby class offering a high teacher to child ratio. The babies are cared for by a dedicated team that ensures all their daily requirements are catered for. They are exposed to a curriculum that encourages speech development, sensory play and music. They are encouraged to explore different experiences to ensure that they receive the appropriate levels of stimulation without tiring them out. Feeding times are based on a regular schedule and diapers are monitored at least every thirty minutes.

CATERPILLARS

Our 2-3 year old's begin their learning journey here. Age appropriate games, play and activities to develop language, cognitive and fine motor skills. Reading is central to the development of a life long journey of discovery. Children are encouraged to play and interact with one another to develop social skills.

LADYBUGS

This is the 3-4 yr old's class. Here we focus on fine motor skills development and basic literacy and numeracy. Learning through play and teacher-led activities allows for structured development. Children are encouraged to explore and group activities encourage social skills development.

BUTTERFLIES

Our 4-5 year olds are encouraged to experiment while learning to take instructions and work in groups. Phonics and numeracy are at the heart of all lessons as they prepare for Grade R. Story telling, basic reading, puzzle construction are some of the activities during this phase as their learning prepares them for the transition to Grade R. All activities are age appropriate and they are taught that learning is fun and must be enjoyed. Hand crafts ensure that fine motor skills are developed as they prepare for the world of Grade R

BUSY BEES

Where Grade R is fun. Our final year students are taught all the basics of phonics, numeracy, literacy and social skills required to transition into Grade 1. Group activities as well as individual learning ensures that their development is well rounded. Learning activities encourage both experimentation and following instructions. Fine motor skill development is key at this stage as they get ready for the transition to "Big School".

6 month to 3 year Half Day

  • R28 600 per year payable at R2600 per month for 11 months or R2384 over 12 months. For children who start during the year a pro rata calculation will determine fees.
  • Parents supply nappies, wipes and meals.
  • Potty training is started as soon as children are able to communicate and take basic instructions.

6 month to 3year Full Day

  • Full Day 7am to 5pm
  • R33000 per year payable at R3000 per month for 11 months or R2750 over 12 months. For children who start during the year a pro rata calculation will determine fees.
  • Parents supply nappies, wipes, meals
  • Potty training is started as soon as children are able to communicate and take basic instructions.

3-6 year Old's

R31900/Year
  • R31 900 per year payable at R2900 per month for 11 months or R2659 per month over 12 months.
  • Half day at R27500 per year payable at R2500 for 11 months or R2292 per month for 12 months.
  • For children who start during the year a pro rata calculation will determine fees.
  • Parents supply meals, snacks and juice.

6 month to 3 year Half Day

3-6 year Old's

  • R35 090 per year payable at R3190 per month for 11 months or R2925 per month over 12 months.
  • Half day at R30 250 per year payable at R2750 for 11 months or R2521 per month for 12 months.
  • For children who start during the year a pro rata calculation will determine fees.
  • Parents supply meals, snacks and juice.

What time does the school open and close?

The school is open every week day except for public holidays. The school opens at 6:55 in the morning and closes at 17:05 in the afternoon.

What if my child gets ill during the day?

Sick children are a risk to themselves and those around them. If a child takes ill during the day, the nature of the illness will be communicated to the parents. Children will be monitored for 15-30 minutes to determine the severity of the illness. If the illness is deemed to be severe, parents will be contacted to make arrangements for the ill child to be fetched. Contagious or infectious illnesses must be treated at home to prevent spread to the other children. 

Is the school open during school/public holidays?

The school follows the government school terms. However, we do not close during the Easter Period and September school holidays. We Close for the first 2 weeks during the June holiday period. When public holidays fall on a Tuesday or Thursday the school will be closed on the Monday preceding or Friday following the public holiday. 

How do you deal with special dietary requirements?

Other than a mid morning snack of a brown bread & jam sandwich all meal and snacks are provided by parents. In the event that a parent forgets to pack a snack we will provide the child with a Marie biscuit.
Parents must communicate All special dietary requirements to us specifically those that relate to allergies and religious beliefs. We will then ensure that those are strictly adhered to.

Pop Corn will only be supplied to children 4 years and older for Safety reasons.

During the year we do have days when snacks/lunches are provided. These will be available on the Term Planner. All the food provided will take into account the special requirements of each child.
